Kevin Hassett, chairman of Trump’s Council of Economic Advisors, said Monday, Sept. 10, “What is true it is that it’s the highest in 10 years. At some point somebody probably conveyed it to him adding a zero to that, and they shouldn’t have done that.”
It’s remarkable to me that Donal J. Trump can’t find and remove this incorrect tweet, but it remains posted as of September 11. The president could easily explain and correct this error, but in the post-truth pseudo-reality world that our president occupies, there’s no need for correction. This ridiculous statement will probably remain on Twitter, retweeted more than 22,000 times, and sadly, some will believe it.
Some might say this is inconsequential, but it is an obvious symptom of a serious national illness that appears to only be getting worse.
September 11 – It still hasn’t been deleted or corrected…SAD!
